Imagism (movement inspired by Ezra Pound circa 1909)

An antidote to the rhetorical exercises of Victorian poets and pastoral complacency of Georgian verse

Three guiding principles:

1. Direct treatment of the topic – whether subjective or objective.

2. Using no word that does not contribute to the presentation.

3. Musical, fluid.
