AUNIE’S SONG (pirate ghazal)
If the song were to be written now, Aunie’s epic song,
would it be the same words, the same tune? Would she still want to sing along?
Who knew that Auntie would be the one, to be captured so mercilessly?
Who knew that Aunties would be in trouble? Who knew Six would sing along?
We always thought the song was for the faithful,
we always thought only the true would sing along.

And yet here we are, listening to Six’s men,
shout out the words in a discordant type of group sing along.

Their voices hurt our ears, their anchors hurt our skin,
we want to ignore their idle threats, and yet we obey instead and dutifully sing along.
